Interview Andrej Martin (english)

Our team had a chance to speak with Andrej Martin (30yo), 96th player at the ATP ranking. Here is his interview.

"When did you start playing tennis ? how did you discover it ?

I started when I was 6. My parents were raising me doing multiple sports. I sticked with tennis because i felt best surrounded by friends and it was fun so I spent most of the time at the courts without forcing from anybody.

What do you do to stay in good shape during this particular period ?

I'm a big fan of trying different kinds of sports or activities. Now its the perfect time for that, so I'm doing a lots of things, for example skitouring, footgolf, bike downhill, climbing,etc...

I really enjoy adrenaline sports.

What's your best memory on court ?

Best memories on court is always at the davis cups in front of the full home crowd cheering for you. It's electrifying atmospehere.

For which results are you most proud of ?

Representing my country at the olympics is by far the biggest what could possibly any athlete could achieve. Just being there and knowing I'm part of it was insane great. I managed to pass into last 16 what was on top of it the best result of Slovakian player.

Which player impressed you the most in match? Why ?

When I was young, I loved to watch Lleyton Hewitt. He impressed me with his fighting spirit and his agility on court.

What’s your favorite tournament ? Why ?

Olympic games by far. Because it's just the biggest sport competion in the world with the greatest life stories. And on the top of it you're representing your country so a lots of people stand behind you and supporting.

What is your main goal until the end of your career? Is it to win a tournament (atp250 maybe)? Do you have a ranking goal ?

My career goal is to feel that i tried my best to fill my potential. Of course top 100 and atp tour is the logic goal of every player. My secret dream would be to bring a medal from olympics."
