Our team had a chance to speak with Dan Evans (29yo), 28th player at the ATP ranking. Here is his interview.
When did you start tennis ?
I think I was around aged 5 when I first played it but it was just an enjoyment thing to begin with.
Then at the ages of 13 I moved to Loughborough to be at the LTAs Academy.
How did you discover this sports ?
It was my parents who got me into tennis. When I was younger I also played squash and golf but then chose to advance with tennis.
Do you like to follow other sports ? If yes, which sport do you follow ?
I mainly just watch tennis but I enjoy watching golf also
During this particular period, what do you do to stay in good shape ?
I am currently focusing on maintaining a high fitness level and trying to keep myself busy.
I’m not playing tennis so i am doing a lot of work on cardio and weights.
Now back to your career !
What’s your best memory on court ?
I’ve had lots of great memories on court. Probably, my favourite moment was when I got to play Roger Federer at Australian Open in 2019. Even though I lost the match i really enjoyed it and was a great quality match.
What results are you most proud of ?
There is lots of matches I’m proud of winning ! Probably, the top three is winning against Alex De Minaur and David Goffin at ATP Cup then Andrey Rublev in Dubai.
You played Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and lots of great players but which player impressed you the most in match ? And why ?
Yeah, both Roger and Rafa are so tricky to play. For me, I found roger so difficult to play just because of the consistency and accuracy he has. Rafa has the same.
With many players you will get free points but against them, you are lucky to get one free point.
What’s your favorite tournament ? And why ?
It’s Wimbledon for sure. It’s such a great tournament and the fans are amazing there. Also, it's great to play in front of the home crowd.
What is your main goal until the end of your career?
I mean it would be a dream come true if I was to win a Gran Slam.
Realistically, it’s reaching QF of a Gran slam and getting into the top 15
Is it not to win a tournament ?
Besides, was your final lost against Albot at Delrey Beach difficult to go over ?
Yeah, it would be great to win titles.
I’ve always wanted to win a masters so possibly that’s a goal also.
Yeah, it was tricky to get over but now I look at it as a chance to learn and improve for what I did wrong.
Our team thanks Dan to answering our questions! We wish him to become the best possible !
